For those of us who work full time, the 29th February is a bit of a swizz.
every 4 years I work an extra day, for no extra pay and no extra leave, Just an extra day slotted into my year that I work for free! I know this year we have an extra bank holiday because of the queen (thank you m'am) But why not have the other ones as a bank holiday? one lovely extra bank holiday once every 4 years.
A nice extra day to spend doing fun things/family things/relaxing things (non work things)
Do you think we could start a movement???
Today was an odd day, One good thing was it reminded me of how much I like the people I work with.
This week is only half over but I am tired and grumpy and looking forward to the weekend.
Sunday is YD birthday and we are going to have a nice meal out together....bliss. I love family time.
I have not done anything photographically interesting for a while.
Here are some random's from my collection. That make me happy. x

Techofuddled
Ok, So I am 36 years old and relatively techno savvy
However I am still confused by the remote control for the TV.
Tonight yet again I had to hand the remote to LSP so we could watch a video. This involves 2 remote controls both with far to many buttons on them. I just find myself staring at it blankly and thinking ok where is the one button in the 36 that I actually need.......
I have a new smart phone which LSP bought me for Valentines day and I can easily take photo's, look at twitter, surf the internet, do my facebook. etc. That is all very easy. I can even look at google sky map and see what planet is next to the moon, I can use latitude to see where LSP is at any given time. (fab) I can play games and do all sorts of things. I just have not mastered successfully making a phone call. I keep trying but still get something wrong. usually not putting it down. and leaving odd voicemail messages.
I am resisting a kindle, I have no desire for an i-pad or an A-pad. I love my laptop. It is my most used toy and i know what most of the buttons do.

Nurse for the day.
Today I Have been a nurse. Not for my partner, or my kids but for the dog.
At 3am this morning she wake us up as she is hot, panting and very unsettled. So we went to the vet this morning . She is hot and lethargic and so we have to keep an eye on her for the next 24 hours and if she does not perk up, to go back. She is not often unwell, Despite needing injections for her arthritis, we are not often at the vet with her. So today, I have been doing just that.
The weekend was quiet but still busy, Yesterday Morning we awoke to the most amazing sunrise.
I noticed we had new neighbours.
They are so lovely.
While I was in the garden looking at what we could do in this coming year. I heard a scream. At the same time I saw a bird fly out from a window ledge... I can only presume that the 2 events were linked as they appeared to have come from the same place. I did smile at the thought of someone innocently showering and a bird looking on.
The rest of yesterday was spent whipping around town collecting children, shopping etc. In the evening we went to see The Best Exotic Marigold hotel. The was the 2nd film we had seen last week. The first one being "The Artist" Now lots of people have raved about The Artist. YD really wanted to see it. I was keen and LSP came along reluctantly. Well, who'd have thought it. LSP loved it and I fell asleep. (yes properly with snoring). It just did not do it for me.
Unlike The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, It was fantastic. At times it was a bit cliche but overall a fab film with some great stories. One thing I liked was the wrinkles.
Yes these people are ageing and they look beautiful. Dame Judi and Maggie Smith look so devine, They are a real advertisement for how women are supposed to look as we age. No facelists, skin peels or botox.
Well LSP is home now. complete with a cold. This was our lab this morning and now she is on the rug at home.
Hope you all had a good monday.

A quiet weekend
Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of blogging this week, I have had a very busy week and I am now hitting the Gym every day, so I need to readjust my time to allow some time for blogging and blog reading.
When I say hitting the Gym, I have mainly been in the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. (it has been bliss)
Today I get my Gym programme so will be doing some real exercises.
This weekend we have nothing much planned. So will be mainly pottering. aahh, pottering. its so lovely. I will even be sorting out the bookcase.
ok I started writing this blog this morning when it was bright and sunny and I was full of enthusiasm. I have just left the room frustrated with piles of books all over the place! !!!
This week I ordered 5 new books. However there is no room on the bookshelf but there are books to go. This is our reference bookshelf as we have very few fiction books, LSP's go on the Kindle and I read them and then donate them as I now know I do not read them again and again.
I have sorted out some books to go that will make space for the new books however, I cannot just shove the books back in! I have to sort them out into their categories and subcategories. (why do I do this to myself)
The rest of today was spent, pottering as planned.
We had to go to the opticians....(not a cheap trip) But I am looking forward to my new vintage style glasses. oh and an ordinary pair for work. I managed a little look in Boots for more boring but essential shopping.
Then we spent some time at the Gym.
LSP watched the Rugby while I started the bookcase. Tomorrow we were due to stay in all day but not now as we have to go to B&Q we are going to be out and about. (Luckily we do not have to go till the afternoon)
Oh well, Dinner to cook and shelves to finish. (who knows what I am going to cook) (planning has gone out of the window).
Hope you all have a fab weekend. x

A night in Brighton.
This weekend we had our valentines treat. a night in our favourite hotel.
When we arrived the weather was stormy. The good news was we had been given a free upgrade to a Deluxe Seaview room.
It was Bliss....
However, Neither of us felt the need to use the phone (I have no idea why you would need one next to the loo)
As the weather was so horrid. LSP opted to stay in and watch a film while I hit the shops.
I had a lovely mooch for 2 hours and looked at loads but bought very little.

I did buy something for my next tea party from the Alice and Wonder shop, I had a good leaf through racks of vintage clothes, I looked at loads of antiques and bric a brac.
oh yes I did buy us some fudge and it was good.
We had dinner on the terrace. Dinner was great and deserves its own post.
After Dinner we had cocktails in the lounge.
Delicious.
Soon it was time for bed.
The next morning the weather could not have been more different.
Today there was the Brighton half marathon and it was fun to watch then running past as we left to go and meet our friends.
Hope you all had a good weekend.

I am Hungry.
I am Hungry.
Its 8.22 and I am hungry. I don't want a piece of fruit, I don't want another drink.
I want food, cake, biscuit, bread, toast, sandwich, peanut butter, jam, chocolate, food.
yes I am on a diet. again. When you are 36 and fat. you have had many diets.
No I have not starved myself. this is what I had to eat today.
Breakfast, porridge home made, big bowl with honey and a cup of coffee.
Mid morning. coffee number 2 and slice of melon.
Lunch. roast beef and salad sandwich, marmite ricecakes, 500ml of fruity water.
Afternoon. mug of tea and a biscuit.
Tea. 2 oatcakes. 1 digestive biscuit. grapes, ham.
Dinner. Salmon, boiled new potato's and peas. and a fruity yoghurt.
Supper. Banana and hot chocolate.
Now for some people. That would be a lot. for me it has not been enough. Having looked at it. I should have a bit more to drink and a bit more veg.
I will not be a food bore. I will not be diarying my meals every day. Today is day 1.

Saturday shopping.
Still feeling a bit delicate this morning we headed off to Tesco. Now we only brave Tesco once per month however, they are running an offer where you can get £5 off a £40 shop. so we went back again this week.
It was cold.
This Morning it registered as -10 here at home and also at our friends in Worthing! v cold.
Now the thing is with feeling unwell as you are either cold or hot. This morning it was -10 and I was hot. I put my coat on this morning but still needed to take it off in Tesco and did not put it back on all day. LSP came to Tesco this morning which means a trip upstairs to the electronic section. (which happens to be next door to the clothes section) No electronics went in but a new top each did. Tesco, Saturday, feeling queasy, not fun! So we went to a Deli for lunch.
Ok so most people when they have been unwell would not choose as their first meal to be; a Sorano ham, Tomato and Aioli Sandwich on nice brown bread.
it tasted yum but my belly did some horrible gurgling after~~~~~~~
Now you don't just go to a deli for the food you go for the ambience as well.
Couples chatting, families with children, friends shopping, It was very busy, every time a table emptied it was soon filled. After luch there was some shop mooching and a quick haircut.

Washed down with some lovely juice.
I went for the apple and pear.

Then off to the Gym. yes we have rejoined the gym to get fitter and leaner again following Christmas.
Now I was not up to anything more than a gentle swim and a sit in the steam room
Before heading home we managed some wintry photography but I will share that tomorrow.
Here is my new top and hairdo.
I am now sat with my feet up on the sofa as I am shattered, We did a lot of things we would normally do, it just took a lot longer.
Hope you all had a good Saturday.
