Today I made Cheese Biscuits, They were supposed to be Cheese Scones!

That would be a scone fail!

I will try again tomorrow! Today started off well, we took YD to work this morning then had breakfast out.

I had the strawberry and yoghurt granola with a capaccino
lush breakfast.

a bit of light shopping and then home.

The dogs had some bones to chew on....

This afternoon I turned my attention to the dinning room cabinet. I love it, its my favourite piece of furniture in the house. It was our wedding present, we asked for vouchers and this is what we bought. We have had it 5 years now and I love it. it gives me so much pleasure and it is stuffed full of lovely things.

a lovely variety of napkins, place mats, napkin rings and table cloths.

and nice shiny cutlery.

In the Sales we treated ourselves to some new glasses.

We now have matching glasses for 6 people that is not Crystal (it has its place) we now have red wine glasses and white wine glasses, I feel so grown up.

We had a lovely Christmas present of some amazing tea, with a teapot and cups. So I have cleared a shelf for them.

How amazing is that!!

the teapot has pride of place in the cabinet.

The frost is hitting the garden and the colour is going.

My Geraniums are finally being effected by the frost.

So today was going so well, if you read this weeks posts you would know that I was planning to go to a party tonight! that was before LSP started to feel unwell. so we have shelved our Party plans and have our feet up in front of the sofa. I am watching "Take me out" Its nice no brainer TV an a laugh.

my nice calm day tomorrow has also been scuppered by the toilet handle breaking.
So its off to B&Q in the morning and a bit of DIY from LSP, (who has already sorted out a temporary solution)

Well , I am off to put the kettle on and have a nice cup of tea and a biscuit

(chocolate not cheese)
happy weekend x

Here's to nice weekends....

I am sat here on my settee, with a glass of Jack Daniels and coke (rock and roll) having had a very nice weekend. Yesterday was such a fab day as my sister along with her partner brought our niece down to see us. The original plan was for us to go to them (and to have a trip to ikea on the way) but the plans changed and they came down to us.

I cant believe how quick this year has gone, well the baby is now 1 and we gave her her birthday pressie from us.

She did play with it, but was more interested in the kitchen step, which she crawled up and down repeatedly!

She has discovered the Camera and smiles a big beaming smile when ever its pointed on her,

Just look at those teeth!! (yes that's a smile)

Happy Birthday.......

After the excitement of yesterday, today was a lot more practical,

We had to finish sorting out the books.

After much sorting we have identified about 60 books to be sold and the ones that are left fit in our book cases, hurrah.....

We have 1 bookcase in the hall, which has lots of normal (ish) books.

Then the dinning room is dominated by Academic and Hobby books, (and the occasional dog).

So after a busy but nice weekend, its time for a nice glass of drink and some candle light.

Here's to a good week everyone.........

OCD???

I do not accept that I have OCD, I think I am perfectly normal!!

Other people, my family included have commented on some of my "traits". This includes my ability to spot if an ornament has moved even slightly and then correct it. (that's normal isn't it?)

One area I love to have tidy is the food cupboard, I dream of an old fashioned pantry like my granny used to have. (this one courtesy of Country Living)

Ours is not as pretty as the one above but is practical,

Before I show you the picture, I must tell you about a domestic abuse course I was once on. The course used video clips to highlight different forms of abuse. One clip was from the film sleeping with the enemy, where the cans in the cupboard are all lining up the same way. I surely was not the only person to think that is perfectly reasonable (no not the violence) but being able to see whats in your cupboard.

When we paint the kitchen I will give the interior a bit of a revamp, I will paint the walls and I want to line the shelves with some oilcloth. Here it is in its pre decorated state.

Gosh, looking at it in a picture it looks a bit messy!

Different items have designated shelves and I have gone as far as putting little labels on the door to remind people of what goes on what shelf  (yes it all has to face the front). OCD, what OCD.........

ex libris........

something very peculiar has happened to me.............................. I have started to empty the hidden parts of the house!!

My long suffering partner has put up with my hoarding for many years!! But now I have started to empty the shelves and cupboards, wardrobes and loft (of my own volition).

I have sent sacks of unloved, ill fitting and ill advised clothes to the charity shop!!!

I have now started on the book collection!

The books show the journey of our lives, the different fads and phases as well as the journey I had in my education. However, they are now just dust gatherer's, I have to admit that I have not looked at some of them in years and will not!  So I am now faced with the dilemma of sifting through the collection and take it down to the ones which are either beautiful or useful.

We need to go from this ....................................................................................................................

To something more like this........................................................................................................

ok.... maybe a little bit smaller and a bit less grand!!
