I dont know if its the time of year or somthing else but I feel tired.

Simple pleasures...

Sometimes, its the simple things in life that can be the most satisfying. Here are some of mine.....

Bread and Jam, babies laughing, my dog when she lies her head on my lap, that Friday night feeling, taking my shoes off at the end of the day.

Birthday cards, my children sleeping, looking at old photographs, log fires, charity shops, walking, Snow, Daffodil's 

Lie ins, cuddles, Sleep, knitting, Sewing, Stew, wine, weekends, Blogging

Purple tights......

Today, I wore a pair of purple tights, that is nothing unusual if you are a person who wears colourful tights.
for me it was quite an achievement!

Especially as I was at work.
I wore, a grey cord skirt, grey and white striped shirt with black waistcoat and long black boots. Skirt was above the knee, so you could see a good few inches of purple!

I have been losing weight recently and now feel more confident about wearing skirts especially as I have had compliments on my legs. I have an unusual body shape, kind of like a toffee apple, shapely legs with  a big round body!

I have only ever worn black or brown tights, so purple was a big change, i found myself getting glimpses of them and that would make me smile.

I hope to have more purple tights day's in the future!

I wish it could be Christmas everyday,

Yes a strange post for the last day in January,

I love the sales and have bought many bargain's including many of our Christmas pressies for next year!

I love buying things at 75% of their original price.

Today's Bargain was a set of Spode tea spoons at 75%  off,

The only issue with them is their subject matter,

Christmas tree's.

However, I love them and will use them all year round,

I am debating as to whether to keep the box as it is so pretty,

They will go into the dining room to be used for best but not saved just for Christmas....

They are not our only Christmas items we use all year, we have portmerrion as our dinner service we use everyday  and it is a mix of, flowers, fruit, roses and holly and Ivy.

Here's to nice weekends....

I am sat here on my settee, with a glass of Jack Daniels and coke (rock and roll) having had a very nice weekend. Yesterday was such a fab day as my sister along with her partner brought our niece down to see us. The original plan was for us to go to them (and to have a trip to ikea on the way) but the plans changed and they came down to us.

I cant believe how quick this year has gone, well the baby is now 1 and we gave her her birthday pressie from us.

She did play with it, but was more interested in the kitchen step, which she crawled up and down repeatedly!

She has discovered the Camera and smiles a big beaming smile when ever its pointed on her,



Just look at those teeth!! (yes that's a smile)

Happy Birthday.......

After the excitement of yesterday, today was a lot more practical,

We had to finish sorting out the books.

After much sorting we have identified about 60 books to be sold and the ones that are left fit in our book cases, hurrah.....

We have 1 bookcase in the hall, which has lots of normal (ish) books.

Then the dinning room is dominated by Academic and Hobby books, (and the occasional dog).

So after a busy but nice weekend, its time for a nice glass of drink and some candle light.

House porn!!!!

Its a very contentious subject, some people love it, some people don't see the point of it and some people do not know it exists!

I can think of nothing better than a hot cup of tea, the lighted fire and a copy of my magazine of choice.

My lovely LSP bought me a new subscription to Country Living magazine for my birthday (as well as some other lovely things).

This is my favourite magazine, I love the photography as well as the articles.

It gives me lovely idea's for my rooms and displays.

I adore looking at the pictures of houses and rooms and garden's.

The life's simple pleasures section is a joy, I was so excited when we were in Scotland and visited Cawdor church in the same month that it was in the magazine.

The emporium section, gives me lovely idea's of things to put on my never ending wish list....

Food and drink, what can I say, as you may be aware I am a bit of a foodie, I just love the simple recipe idea's.

Most of all I love the tales from the stone cottage, its so funny, and idyllic maybe to idyllic to be 100% true but enjoyable non the less.

So why is it porn... its that pure pleasure of looking at the images over and over again, the dreaming of having a house, garden or room that looks as pretty as the ones in the magazines. 

A mouse's tale

I looked back through my blogs and realised I had not made anything with my hands for ages.......

So tonight, I pulled out my knitting needles and created something.

I love knitting, sewing and other forms of stitchcraft. The difficulty is that I have carpel tunnel syndrome in both of my wrists. Short wrist movements make my hands lock up and freeze so big projects are out of the question.........

I needed to find something that was small and take no more than an hour.....hmmmm, I knitted a mouse.

 A curious little thing with purple eyes and a very long nose.......

and a cute ear.......

I thought she looked adorable, LSP suggested she become a cat toy!!!!

Well its Friday night, I had a good day at work, I have not brought any work home with me, I have had a lovely curry for tea, now some TV and bed....Have a good weekend everyone!!!
