Good friends and give-away's. part 2.

Brighton is special to LSP and I for 2 reasons. The First is because it was our honeymoon destination. The 2nd is because we have friends down there.

They are friends who are very dear to us and it was great to spend some time with them. Just having the time to sit and chat and catch up was brilliant. We plan to return again sooner so we can catch up again.

We are blessed by having some very good friends, I have really noticed this since being off work unwell. People sending supportive text's. visiting me, facebook messages etc.

One of our friends has moved house this weekend and I have mixed feelings about it. It is really good for her, but means she will be an hour away so we will see less of her. So I am pleased for her and a little sad as well.

She has however left me a legacy.......

Her beautiful dolls house!

She has put a lot of work into the house already but there is a long way to go.

So this is the Legacy, I will love, take care of it and slowly finish it.

OK now for the give-away.....

I put all of the names into a bowl and LSP did the honour's of pulling a name out of the bowl.

Well done Kathryn,
if you send me your detail's.
my email is,

Hope everyone has had a very good Easter.

my weekend!

We had a lovely weekend!

It started well as we headed south, traffic was a bit slow in places but the sun was shinning and the radio was on so it was enjoyable. The only clue I had was the sat nav, telling us our ETA.

As usual there was a fair bit of facebooking going on.

11.29 me: sat nav says we are an hour away from our destination.

12:02 me: 12:02 another traffic jam, Sat Nav says we are 55    minutes away .

12:31 me: and another traffic jam, sat nav tells us we are 27 minutes away

12:50 me: and again, we are now 20 minutes away!!!

We arrived at 1:30 at Arundel, this was just a lunch stop. As usual Arundel was beautiful, the sunshine was gorgeous.

The natives were friendly.

After lunch and some browsing at the antiques, It was back in the car. LSP rebooted the Sat nav and it told us we were 40 minutes away! I was excited as I hoped this meant Brighton. (not Bogner)

It did! you can't tell from this photo but this was my first glimpse of the sea.

So off we went to the hotel. LSP had found a nice little hotel for us.

The Grand is a very special place. It is also very special for us as it's where we had our honeymoon. That was 5 years ago in September.

We checked in to our lovely room.

After some shopping and getting ready for the evening we took a taxi across town....

LSp had booked us into a glam vintage indoor street party. However it was cancelled :(

we were disappointed.

However it did give us the opportunity to take some sunset pictures.

Ok so here's the funny bit, once we had taken lots of sunset photo's we went to find somewhere to eat.

Due to my headaches I have been wearing sunglasses all the time. However the combination of High heel's, sunglasses and a velvet dress. combined with a rustic pavement lead to the most spectacular fall I have ever had.

I slipped off the pavement, and lost my balance. You know when you lose your balance but do not lose it altogether, so you try desperately to right yourself. But you can't.

I was trying to not fall for about 10 yards. All you could hear was the squeak of my shoes along the road. Eventually gravity took over and I went down.

LSP had been trying to catch me but my momentum prevented that. Apparently I resembled a bouncing ball!

A nice gentleman asked me if I was ok and did I need any help. I said I said I was fine thank you. LSP then said to him that it was a shame we did not have a video camera as we would have earned £250  from that! At which point they both descended into laughter!

My Pride was hurt more than anything, I have 3 scrapes on my knee a small scrape on my arm and a bloody and bruised knuckle (I was holding my camera) The camera was fine as were my new glasses that went flying down the road in front of me.

We continued down the road, me looking slightly less glam with a ladder in my tights and a bleeding knuckle (like I had punched someone)

We could not find anywhere that we wanted to eat and we ended up in the Old Steine at the same pizza restaurant that we ate at 5 years ago. It is a nice one with a wood burning oven.

It was very busy but we were able to squeeze in. I had my favourite pizza (which has anchovies, olives and caper's)I was tucking in quite happily when a stray caper dropped into my bra. There was no way of getting it out without plunging my hand down the middle! (it stayed)

We managed a nice and uneventful walk back to the Hotel. We then Sat in the hotel bar and chose a night time cocktail.

mmm Strawberry Daiquiri

At that point the piano started playing, earlier in the evening we had been listening to some lovely piano music. The music now was a bit different. It was not being well played and we thought that a guest had hijacked the piano. There was a Diverse mix of music which included Tainted Love and and Elton John medley.
The person playing the piano was getting up to speak to different guests and was very over familiar.

We went to bed as it had been a very eventful day!

It was a fantastic 2 days away, I have so much more to say but have rambled on for to long now....

more tomorrow.

With many thanks to the most wonderful Long Suffering Partner ever.

weekend away!!!

There will be no blog tomorow as I will not be here.....

I will be on my surprise break. Its very exciting!

I have been sorting out my wardrobe for the weekend and packing my suitcase. This is the quite random selection of outfits I will be taking.

I sat in front of my bulging wardrobe lamenting that I had nothing to wear and I hate all my clothes!

Why? because after 1 month of no exercise and stuck for the most part on the Settee with a very sore head. I have inevitably put on weight!

This is not what you want when you are going away for the weekend. The weight has gone on in all the wrong places and I am feeling very lumpy... If I had only had a kaftan.....

Well I need to pull myself together and get my mojo back. Its not everyone who is being whisked away for a romantic night away.

I shall pack plenty of clothes in case I feel that one is to tight or not right I can just throw something else on.

Hope you all have a lovely good Friday and I will catch up over the weekend!

The mental wish list....

We all have a mental wish list.

Places we would like to visit, things we want to do, experiences we want to have and things we would like to own.

My list seems to grow longer every day. Every time I look at a magazine it seems to get especially long!

One of my more curious things is that one day, I would like to own a vintage car.

Now we have hot and sunny weather, vintage cars are out in force. I seem to drool at them all.

little red triumph's, vintage model T fords, VW beetle's, Morris Minor's, MG Midget's, Astin Martin's, TVR, Austin Healy, etc etc.

The only thing is it would need to be a convertible, what is the point of having one if you cannot feel the wind in your hair!

The only draw backs in my plan for cruising round in the sun are.

1) I know nothing about cars.
2) I cannot drive
3) I have nowhere to put it
4) I would not have an idea about where take it to be fixed
5) I cant afford one

So It stay's on my mental wish list. It does not stop me from admiring one when I see it.

Sunglasses & Surprises.

This morning I treated myself to a Lie in..........

LSP had gone to work, the dogs had been out, and were back and had joined me in the bed.

I was lead there with the radio on half listening and half dozing....all was calm.........Until.

The door knocked.

The dogs shot up and started barking.....

The door knocked again......

I remembered I was expecting some packages to arrive so I shot out of bed, ran along the landing, down the stairs, along the hall and opened the front door. ( I was wearing one of my summer nightie's is a lovely white cotton with little blue flowers its lovely, cool and floaty) The post man is used to me presenting myself at the front door in my various night time apparel.

However My Daughter's driving instructor is not!

She looked most surprised!

The interesting thing is That my daughter was awake and dressed and in her room, I had to race past her room on the way as its closest to the stairs. she was just taking her own sweet time to pick up the things she needed. After that there was no point in going back to bed, the peace and tranquillity had been shattered.

Random I know However...

My Neighbour's tulips are now in full bloom and look amazing!

Headache was easier this morning but my back and neck have been very tender. This afternoon was a trip to the docs to pick up more pills! I will soon be rattling. Then down to the opticians to pick up my new glasses.

I have not taken off the sunglasses since!
(apart from to take the photo of course)

Ok so 2nd Part of the surprise! LSP has given me some clues about Friday!

1) I will need to pack an overnight bag

2) I will need evening Dress and pearls

3) I will also need a sun-dress, hat  and sandals

4) No Jeans!

5)  We will not back till Saturday Night!

Interesting, I will see if I can get any more clues tomorrow.

I am very curious........

As I am not back till Sunday I am extending my vintage pillowcase give-away till then. If you have not entered then you can click here

This is what it looks like .......

good luck!!!

manipulation and a meal out.

Ok so Tomorrow I will be able to collect my prescription sunglasses!!  Hopefully that should put an end to my photo-phobia!

I was able to venture out this afternoon under my big new floppy hat to the opticians, then it was off to be manipulated.

It is hard to describe what he does. he gets his fingers into my muscles and into my bones. He pushes and pull's and gets me to bend and stretch. Most importantly he makes the headache go away!

For 45 minutes he was causing me pain and relief at the same time, it was so bizarre. I know that tomorrow my back will be sore from all of the muscle manipulation and being poked. I can move my neck and head a lot more.

As I was on a high, LSP and I went out for a meal just the 2 of us! It was somewhere cheap and cheerful. But so nice not to cook!

The only problem with eating out is you can never choose who sits next to you. Tonight we had Mr Idiot. Mr Idiot was in his early 30's and full of opinions. He and his girlfriend were talking about someone at his work who had recently returned from maternity leave and was pregnant again. He then launched into a loud mono-log about how he did not want children because all of his money was his own and he would not want to spend out on a kid and if any accidents happened she would need to get an abortion!!!!

He went on to say that there was a part of him that would like a son but you can't guarantee you would get a boy. ............Its not to bad until they get to about 13-14 then its like - go on my son! but if its a girl you would want to slap a chastity belt on them.

Ok so in your world 13 years old think about sex and are sexually  active and you would be encouraging your 13 year old child to have sex.

hmm maybe it is a good idea that he isn't going to breed!

As if this was not enough! he then proceeded to ask his girlfriend if she would give him a massage later! (in a very suggestive way) I can hear you thinking , why was she listening that closely, well there was only 18" between our tables!

The highlight  of the evening was pudding. A rare treat but utter bliss....

LSP told me that I have a treat in store for Friday and I will find out more on Thursday!

Not shopping with my lovely partner!

Today I ventured out of the house in daylight and went to do the weekly shop at Tesco.

Then  we went to TK Maxx, As some of you know I have given up shopping for lent. so TK Maxx is a dangerous place to be. Not when you get taken there by your lovely partner! Technically I was not shopping as I did not spend any money. (yes its bending the rules but I have been very miserable).

This was our first purchase, how beautiful!

Then it was this lovely big treat Jar for the dogs!

It is massive and we have been able to put all sorts of different bones and treats in there.

More pressie's for the dogs....

We did get them a new toy each.

However the Labrador is not a fan of sharing.

Socks for the kids (no picture they are just socks)
and a new sun hat each.

my blue hat is a bit of a change from my usual 50's vintage hat, however I need to keep the sun out of my eye's now! it is a nice floppy material.

I have had my post shopping sit down now, So I had better crack on and get the food put away. Hope you are having a lovely Sunday!
