It is a chocolate afternoon tea....yum.

Yes, that is a scone, with clotted cream, Chocolate spread and jam (well it is my birthday)

After a rich afternoon tea we had no room for Dinner. so we had a late night supper in the room.

Early morning in Cabots Circus, Bristol.

Coffee for lunch

And the worlds biggest croissant. Which Sadly left no room for cake...

Just look how lovely they were but we were both so stuffed.

The Architecture is so nice.

Evening Mocktails with dinner.

More presents

And a nice welcome home.

I am so lucky to have great family and friends. My LSP knows me so well, The weekend was lovely, the hotel was great We had a great view (which pleased me) Wifi and a Mac (which pleased LSP).
I have had some lovely presents including a mega, memory card, a calender for work, a Book about Mauru the cat (separate blog needed for him) a note block, DVD on aliens, scarf, outdoor wind up radio, flowers, a trug of lovely things and some amazing cards.

It has been nice to have an extra day off. We have had some sadness as well, this was my first Birthday without my Nan and we have had some over hassles but it is a time to be positive.

Its my Birthday tomorrow.

Yep, I will be another year older tomorrow.

LSP has planned some lovely things and I will not be blogging till Sunday. I am so looking forward to this weekend. You remember I said I had a training day today, well let me tell you, it was no easy day. My head is mush as it was very heavy. It was certainly worthwhile but I am quite tired.

After work I found myself in Laura Ashley!!! (I needed a treat) However, I came out empty handed! Despite there being 50% off and an extra 10% there was nothing to tempt me. A quick trip to staples for some really usefull storage boxes. (I love them) for the loft and something caught my eye.

It is a lovely organiser. In the oriental garden pattern.
As I get closer to 40 being more organised would be good.

Once home, I was glad for the ready cooked mince as I rustled up a lovely spag bol. Although I was crying out for a takeaway, we have a family meal planned for Sunday and we are eating out tomorrow so cannot justify a takeaway, anyway, it was only due to lazyness.

I am thinking that I might go for an early night tonight in order to make the most of the day tomorrow. we have a list of jobs for the morning before the birthday celebrations commence which includes taking some stuff to the charity shop.

I am craving sweet things so may have to go and raid the cupboard for biscuits and a nice cop of tea. After this weekend I have to get my bum in gear, get back on my bike and start eating better again.

The nights are getting lighter so will be nicer on my bike, I don't like cycling in the pitch black.

so tonight is going to be a soap catch up, I love weekends.

Getting it wrong

Don't you just love it when people get their words wrong.

A friend today talked about the Antidote instead of the anecdote. (we were in fits of laughter)

This same friend (the term is getting looser) asked about who is that diary you are showing on your facebook?  I replied, that's my blog! Oh she said I thought is was some old woman's diary with the recipe's and stuff in. !
(I love her really)

My mum constantly got her words mixed up, she once asked if some changing rooms were bi-sexual (instead of unisex) and demanded that the cheese shop have some terracotta cheese, she meant ricotta.

We have the several friends who seem to make it their hobby to stick their foot in their mouths and seem to have a series of accidental innuendo's.......

Its been a good day, odd but good.

In order to prevent me getting wet ankles again I tucked my jeans in to my socks. I forgot to untuck them and it was not until 5pm when  I left that someone noticed they were still tucked in!

I am so looking forward to the weekend....This is going to be an indulgent weekend. cream tea, shopping, hotel, birthday. I am going to be taking lots of photographs...I need to complete the photo challenge and to do my monthly make, I am still stuck for what to do.

I must go to my fabric stash for inspiration.......

Now I know what happens when a security van is attacked!

Its been a funny old day.

Traffic this morning was a complete nightmare....which never starts the day off well that coupled with the rain. I have fashionable jeans which means they hit the floor, and soak up water. hooray!

One the days highlights was a post office van.

There was a post office van parked outside a post office. The van was saying.

"help! help! Post Office Van is being attacked, Call the Police."
(in a female voice)

again, and again and again.........The post office van was not being attacked it was some sort of error. However the post office van needed the police to turn it off! It was amusing for the first few minutes....Then it became very irritating. Interestingly it could not be switched off by the post office people, it needed the police.  (it was not a priority) eventually it was turned off.

later in the day, there was an interesting discussion about Sarcoptic Mange and scabies.... yes we all had a good itch! (I am still having psychosomatic itching)

we arrived home to a note from our neighbour. now do you remember my post about the wind. well the top fence panel unravelled itself and our neighbour made a temporary fix. The temporary fix included our coal bin sitting in the middle of the path providing balast for a piece of wood supporting the fence post. now we did raise the issue of how long we were going to have the coal bucket in the middle of the path as it is not very convenient and the blind spaniel keeps walking into it. Well the note was to say that the fence will be fixed on Monday. Yipee.

Tomorrow is my last proper working day of the week as I have a training day on Friday. So its nearly a 4 day weekend. as we have Monday off.

This weekend is my Birthday weekend and LSP is planning something special.....

I have a craving for something sweet and nice..... So I am going to make a nice cup of tea, get some nice biscuits and enjoy tonight's Star Gazing live, with good old Prof Cox.

(I have no photo's of stars and I used my moon yesterday)

Why did I not pay more attention in Science!

I am gripped to stargazing live! on BBC 2!

However I only understand between 30%-50% of it and end up with a head ache!!!!

There is defiantly a Professor Brian Cox revolution going on at the moment. Which I think is good for science and hope it will inspire more people to engage with science.

Some of the concepts I cannot compute. I still do not fully understand how radio telescopes can tell us where things are.

i don't understand how we only see one side of the moon!

Also black holes!!! ok I know what a hole is, If I make a hole in a piece of paper and drop something in it, it comes out the other side.

What is on the other side of a black hole?  A super massive black hole. where does it all go! it eats stars, where does it put them! There is a super massive black hole at the centre of each galaxy why does it not eat everything.

Space and time can be curved and can create an infinite hole.....

ripples in space time.

a break down of relativity....

planets, planetary, event horizon, singularity, betelguese, geminid, cassiopia, pimordial black holes, worm holes.

I just need a lie down! (and a paracetamol)

Today I had a fantastic cup cake!

ok, so I can now see the appeal of cup cakes.

Today was a leaving lunch for one of our team who is off to have a baby. We will miss her.

She brought in the most amazing cup cakes. Now I have always seen cup cakes as overpriced, over sweet and sickly affairs. Today I had a nice one. Here it is the one that changed me.

It was light and fluffy and with a lovely whipped topping that was both sweet and light and yummy, with a nice delicate sponge.

I picked a quite plain one but there were more fancy ones as well.

They are so cute!

little romper suits, prams and caterpillars, how cute!

I am converted!

I may have to make some myself.

We had some other lovely home made treats.

EW, make some lovely rich chocolate brownies. they were goey and lovely!
She is a wizz in the kitchen and a great cook.

My scones went down well and there were some lovely cheese paniers

So it was a sad and happy day, sad because we are saying goodbye for a while and happy because 1 we had some nice treats and 2, she is leaving to have a baby!

Other than that it was a normal Monday.
The sky was great but I was to busy to take any photo's.
I had a lunch break, but that was filled with eating lots of lovely home made treats and chatting about babies.

Scones part 2 and a bang on the head!

Well today was kind of a follow on from yesterday...(I know that days tend to do that) In that The posts are connected. This morning was coffee, Toast and the Archer's. It is my perfect way to start the day. Despite LSP feeling under the weather we still went to B& Q in search of a new toilet handle.

Now does anyone go into B&Q and come out with 1 thing?

We dont! the purple bag contains the part. +2 bags of gravel, 2 batteries, 1 soup dispenser and 2 toothbrush holders.

We went home to do the DIY. I however had a bit of a calamity. I remembered to put the sack truck into the car to take the bag of gravel. It was the laws of physics that surprised me.

Ok it seemed so simple. Place the bag on the sack truck. simple.
Truck at an angle.
Drop bag on truck
Truck stands upright
Hits me on the forehead.
Ouch.

The truck and head will go another day.

LSP was concerned and highly amused all at the same time. (think person standing on rake)

later this afternoon. I turned my attention to the scones.

After yesterday's disaster, I turned to a trusted friend, who makes fabulous scones for a tried and trusted recipe.

Batch 1 ready for the oven

Batch 1 cooked. a bit dry

Batch 2 better! I added an extra flz of milk and topped them with parmasan

This is the monster one for LSP's lunch tomorrow.

All tinned and ready to go for the morning.

One of our team is leaving to have a baby, so we are having a little buffet!
I know there will be cupcakes, Brownies and some cheese scones!

Today I did some playing with my camera.

It has been only used for snapping for recent months.
So here we go with an Arty shot.

Hope you all had a fab weekend.
