A forgotten packet of photographs,

Older Daughter, is getting ready to fly the nest....


One of the consequences of this move is the need to be taking things up and down from the loft. This morning when she was taking some things down she came across an old packet of photographs in a box. 
These photo's were taken by my mum, I just had to scan some and share them with you! In those Days photo's were taken few and far between so I have no idea how long this film was in the camera or where we went!

This is me!!! In my favourite ever dress, it was red crepe with small black spots, It was from chelsea girl and I loved it. I love how much hair I had, all frizzy and curly. All I will say about the glasses is that they were fashionable at the time! Deirdre Barlow had nothing on me! 

It is a bad photo but shows the dress in all its glory, I remember the skirt was full circle so if you spun round fast enough you would flash your pants. The dress zipped up the back but not all the way as there was a tie in-between the shoulders. I really wish I had kept the dress,  and also wish I could still fit into it!

My mum was not the best of photographer's. 

In those days I would not leave the house without make up on!

Headache update- headache not responsive to painkiller's and makes everything take 3 times as long. 

Austrian Adventure

Well, I am going to be off work for the week as I am still not great! So there will be no real amazing blog's this week.


I would like to share with you our Austrian Adventure.


Last year in the time in between Christmas and New Year, LSP, youngest daughter and I went to spend a couple of day's with LSP's Sister and Brother in Law. It was supposed to be just LSP and the children But older daughter's essay panic put paid to that! (the joys of being at uni). 


I am not the most well travelled of people.I have only been abroad twice in my life. Once when I was 16 and again at 21. So a hop across to Austria was a bit of an event for me. 

It was amazing!!!!! 

Our host's were fantastic!!!!

The city was astounding.  

here are some of the highlight's.

Needless to say I cant wait to go back!

This a collection of Skull's and bones that lives in a corner of our garden, the children collected them on our holiday in order to draw them. We did not want them in the house!

• This is a lovely gate from a local park, unfortunately it was a dull day so you cannot see it at its best.

• A stone lion which is now in its 3rd location in 35 years due to various town centre redevelopments.

• I have a crystal vase on the windowsill of the kitchen and this is the rainbow that shines across the kitchen each morning!

It had to be my wedding ring, It's scratched because I always forget to take it off before gardening, It is the most precious thing I have. Mine is Rose gold with a band of yellow gold in the centre and LSP's is the opposite way round. We found  them 9 years before we married at an antiques fair, we tried them on and they fitted both of us. We decided it was meant to be and bought them.

This chair is the chair that our dear Westie used to sit in and watch the traffic go by before he died. It feels very empty now he has gone.

This the handle to the gates of a local cemetery, the paint is peeling due to age and wear.

•  This is one of my childhood bear's. He was mauled by a Labrador when I was small, Instead of putting him in the bin as I was so upset, my mum sewed him back up again as best she could.

These are the pearl's that belonged to my sister, which she wore on her wedding,

 I borrowed them to wear for my wedding and my little sister has just asked to wear them on her's.

•  I have certainly enjoyed undertaking this scavenger hunt, I have kept the list in my little notebook to remind me of things to picture. My favourite pictures are the peeling paint and the rainbow, as they are more artistic then the rest. I had hoped to take a better lamb and gate pictures but being unwell put paid to that, oh well, time to start April's!  

Babies and Butterfly's.

So the original plan for my day today was to be helping my friend celebrate her 30th Birthday. It was due to be an afternoon of go-karting then an evening of cocktails!   However, my migraine put paid to that.

 Instead. I have spent a day with the family. Both Older and Younger daughter's were working today so it was me, LSP, my younger sister, her mother, her partner and their daughter.

We went for Lunch at a nearby butterfly park.

After we had been fed, we went to see the animal's get fed. 

The otter's and meerkat's went down well with the adults. However, for our Niece the star attraction was Amy the Goat.

Every time she ate out of someones hand our niece would laugh hysterically! Amy was not a shy goat and would push herself to the front, we would have to have 1 person distracting Amy while someone else gave the other Goats some treats!

Once we had walked round the animal's we went for a walk around the butterfly house.

Also the butterfly house is hot!!! So we went for a cup of tea before home!

Tonight, older daughter is treat us to a meal in the local pub, for  mother's day treat!

Migraine still there, but now have more painkiller's and start on new medication tonight! 

Ok so a non Migraine blog!!!

I was very lucky today that my friend popped in to wish me well and brought me some get well flower's. 

How, sweet. Thank you! 

We have lots of flower's in the house at the moment. 

Simple white  Chrysanthemum's against the duck egg blue walls in the dinning room! 

Sunny Daff's on the kitchen windowsill. 

And my lovely tulip's.

 This is our Lemonade set. 

It is a wonderful jug and 6 glasses, all hand painted. It would look great on a little Garden table filled with home made lemonade. However, I have never used it. I would not ever trust that one of the glasses would not get chipped or broken. 

I do not think it is sad that it does not get used, I appreciate it sitting in the china cabinet in the dinning room. 

I bought it about 16 years ago 

I spotted it all those years ago in an antique shop in Swindon. I was 19 years old and was earning about £135 per week. It was listed as a 1930's hand painted lemonade set and was £35. I remember talking the dealer down to £30 and agreeing to me paying for it at £5 per week. I was so happy when I finished paying for it. 

At that time I had nowhere to put it, but I knew one day I would. It has moved 4 times and survived! It spent most of its time with me in boxes as there was never anywhere to safely display it. So it waited. 

and waited. 

Until 4 1/2 years ago when we bought a display cabinet with our wedding gift voucher's. 

It finally found a home and has a place where it is seen and appreciated! 

It is one of my favourite ever purchases.
